Life: Less Stressed

Stress Free Post

Let’s face it, life is STRESSFUL. Whether you have 5 kids or no kids, work 60 hours or 0 hours, get 10 hours of sleep or 0 hours of sleep. We’re human, with human brains and emotions. We all fall out of alignment with ease and happiness.

For the past 7 years, I have been on the search of ways to keep me in alignment with this ease and happiness as much as possible. To be clear, it’s unrealistic to be completely in alignment at all times. But these tools have helped me come back quickly when I’ve fallen under stress.

From top left to right:

  1. Gabrielle Bernstein – Gabby is not a woo woo speaker. She keeps it REAL. Think of her as the Carrie Bradshaw of the new-age community. Her blog and Miracle Membership are so relevant to a modern day woman’s day to day life.
  2. Abraham-Hicks – Ok, a little more out there. But before you cross them off the list, hear me out. A lot of what they say actually makes sense. Don’t fight upstream battles and trust that everything is always working out for you. Period.
  3. A Bath – 10 minutes in the bathtub with the lights down low, some epsom salts, and lavender bubble bath. Enough said.
  4. Yoga – Let me start off by saying these two things: 1. you do not have to be flexible to do yoga and 2. you do not have to be a hippie to enjoy it. There’s a type of yoga for everyone. I personally love Yogaworks that has locations in NYC and Westchester (and others around the country). Majority of the time, it can be tough to get to class. That’s where YogaGlo comes in handy. This online platform has classes ranging from 10min-90min, and for every level from beginner to advanced.
  5. Cooking – Pick a recipe from Gwyneth’s It’s All Easy cookbook (currently on my want list) and get cooking! Make something fun like muffins, cinnamon rolls from scratch, or a soup.
  6. Magnesium – I love CALM for a magnesium supplement because it doubles as a tea since typically you drink it warm.
  7. Sleep – sometimes you’re stressed because you are just dang tired! If you can’t get quality sleep MAJORITY of the time (I know, Moms. It’s HARD!). Try to get at least 1 night of quality sleep a week. If that’s impossible, try Yoga Nidra (can also be found on YogaGlo).
  8. Slow Down to Speed Up – I get so frantic sometimes rushing and cramming as much as I can do into seconds. No wonder I was feeling anxiety and stress. My new motto? Slow down to speed up. When I find that I am rushing from one thing to another without much thought, I stop myself, close my eyes or look myself in the eyes in a mirror, and take a deep breath. This allows me to move more consciously into what I am doing and thus bring more ease and happiness.
  9. Start Your Day with a Positive Note – Every morning, the first thing I read in my inbox is my Note from the Universe. Well, it’s actually from Mike Dooley. But, because each note is signed from the Universe, it’s fun to pretend. Click here to sign up for your Note from the Universe.
  10. Tea Time – There is just something so special about tea. I really believe in using it as a support tool. Some of my favorites for stress are Chamomile, St. John’s Wort, Lavender, and Ginger. There is also just SOMETHING about Earl Grey. This simple ritual can be a little “treat yo-self” after a very long, and stressful day. Bonus points for serving it in a traditional tea cup with saucer.
