These are one of my favorite snacks and they are SO easy to make. Before you turn away let me also say that my boyfriend loves these. If he likes them, so will you! They are also extremely customizable. You can literally throw any herbs or spices that you like on these bad boys.
What You Will Need:
-1 can of Organic Chick Peas (Garbanzo Beans)
-1 can of Organic Black Beans
-4 Tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
-Your choice of spices. I used Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, and salt.
What to Do:
-Set your oven for 400 degrees
-Empty and rinse cans of beans
-Dry them by lightly patting and rubbing them with a paper towel
-Place in a mixing bowl and add your 4 tablespoons of olive oil and mix
-Add in your choice of spices. You don’t need measurements for this. Just eye it out. And Mix.
*If you need a measurement 1/4 of a tablespoon is good*
-Line your pan with aluminum foil or parchment paper
-Place in the oven for 15, then mix and toss them again.
-Place back in the oven for another 15 minutes.
Let Cool and Enjoy!
These are a great replacement for pretzels or potato chips, so eat them while you are watching Game of Thrones tonight and The Voice tomorrow! You can also use them to top off a salad or stir fry.
Black beans and chickpeas are full of protein and fiber. Sometimes when cravings attack it is because of a lack in protein. People tend to think that you can only get protein from meat. But that is far from the truth. Beans, grains, and some vegetables have plenty of it. But sometimes when people make the switch the vegetarianism or veganism they don’t know this and end up craving and eating junk food. These are the “junk food vegetarians” and they tend to gain weight when eliminating meat and dairy from their diet. To efficiently become a healthy vegetarian or vegan you must eat a plant based diet. So make sure that you are educated in the ways to get your protein before you go off on a binge of Oreos even though they are “vegan”.
