As you may know, we’re not perfect. We’re human. And whether we like to admit it or not, we make mistakes. Some of us slip in our diets, and others occasionally say the wrong thing. It’s more than likely that you actually do both.
This idea of perfection is a problem because it sets us up for failure. I the end the failure puts our egos against ourselves when the ‘slip’ occurs.
The best thing you can do for yourself when you find this happening is to tell yourself that it is ok, you will have another chance to change it. It may not be that exact moment in time, but in another situation you will be able to say the right thing or choose the healthier snack that will show your sign of growth.
That’s what is great about life. Most of the time, when it comes to the little things we beat ourselves up about, we have plenty of opportunities in the future to change it. It’s all about recognizing those opportunities, being in the moment, and consciously changing.
This week my affirmation is to recognize that I am not perfect. This is especially hard for me when Someone gives me a suggestion or if someone critiques me. I tend to take it the wrong way. Instead of guidance and love, I hear judgement. This week I will view them as opportunities to learn and expand.
How can you learn from your imperfections this week? How will you be kinder to yourself? Give yourself a break and give yourself a pat on the back once in a while.
